Black Architecture has announced that a planning application has been submitted for the refurbishment and environmental upgrade of a warehouse and office building in East London for KeepCup – an innovative Australian company with a mission to revolutionise the existing coffee culture, eliminating disposable cups by supplying well-designed reusable cups.
The refurbishment and environmental upgrade of the existing 1990s warehouse building has been designed on first principles of sustainability by placing the onus on passive measures. By reducing the need for active conditioning the building will rely less on energy-intensive systems. Increased insulation, improved air-tightness, high-quality daylight and passive ventilation will create an efficient and sustainable building with the target of a minimum BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
