Boomtown rats
Trying to make the nation care about litter problems is no easy task.
However, a recent hard-hitting campaign by Keep Britain Tidy has grabbed
the attention of the British press and, in turn, the British public.
Bank to the future
Australia is pioneering a new way to store large amounts of water -
in underground water banks which cleanse as well as hold the water.
The contamination battlefield
Debbie Hamlin, Environmental Consultant within Carl Bro's UK corporate
environmental management expertise centre, provides an insight into
the relationship between the Site Reporting requirements of the IPPC
and the contaminated-land regulatory regime.
Calling the shots
Less than 30 per cent of the UK's 2.4M tonnes of waste
containers and bottle glass is collected and recycled each year. The
remaining 1.7M tonnes goes directly to landfill. Diverting the glass
from landfill has to make sense, economically and environmentally.
